The Hotel St. George is located about 1 km from Milan's Stazione Centrale [central station], the second largest railway hub in Italy for passenger transport and a key link in the development of the Italian high-speed train. The station was inaugurated in 1931 to replace an older station that stood in Piazza della Repubblica, which had become unable to handle the increased volume of railway traffic. Stazione Centrale has 24 tracks that serve 600 trains and 320,000 passengers daily with an annual &nbs320000  0total of 120 million passengers.
The year 2008 saw the completion of a renovation project that improved the station's usability and safety while still respecting its original architecture. The Milan Central station now has moving walkways leading directly to the subway, a pedestrian thoroughfare connecting Piazza Luigi di Savoia to Piazza IV Novembre and a new space dedicated to services and shopping on the lower concourse. The Milan Central Station station also has a higher level of comfort and security due to an improved lighting system, new public information systems and a 24-hour video surveillance system.
Hotel St.George is strategically located in a shopping district halfway between the station and downtown Milan and is near both the subway and the cross-town train giving access to safe and easy transit through the city. The St. George also offers car rental and limousine services for people arriving by train that need to get around the city. We also suggest using the bikesharing service provided by the city of Milan
